Hi, Everyone
Yesterday we were blessed in the fact that we could celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. I still can't believe that he is 70. We had a pretty full weekend of activities. On Saturday we went to a Netherland's Bazaar in Thornhill, it is held every 2 years. We had a great time, we went with my parents, as well as my sister Cynthia was there. We were there early in the morning and left just aroound noon. We took a scenic route home instead of the highway, so we got to see alot. When we got home is around 2:30, then later my mom stopped by and then we went to my sisters where were going to have the dinner so that we could drop off some food for Sunday. I made gnocchi, which is an italian pasta, Ian's Nonna makes it and i love it, but i must say there was something missing in mine, so i will have to get the true recipe from Nonna. Then we came and relaxed. Sunday morning we went to our regular church and then went to my parents for a quick lunch and then headed out to my sister Lorettas' church in Burlington-Flambourough. After that we headed to my sisters for a get together for my dad's birthday. I had 3 of my siblings there, my sister Loretta who's house we were at, and of course her family, my brother Lee and his family, and my sister Cynthia from Alberta was able to come and join us. So needless to say we had a full house. Her are some pictures of the dinner
This is the wonderful table that we were all sitting at. We had alot of food, we had fruit jello, pinealpple salad, prime rib, chicken rolada, homemade applesauce, gnocchi, bean salad, small potatoes, yorkshire pudding and belgian endive. Great food with great company. Then after dinner, we had dessert
Black Forest cake made by my mom. My dad also opened his presents, from my neice Emily he got a gag gift, a cane with a horn, plastic teeth, and over the hill pills. My dad had a pretty good laugh.
From my sister and her family he got a book on the war. ( Sorry it didn't go where i wanted it) Then from Ian and I he received a book on birds, as my dad likes to watch the birds in the backyeard. From my mom he received a box of English licorice, as he has a sweet tooth. From my sister Cynthia and her kids, he received a cd of Wilf Carter, and a wooden woodpecker doorknocker. He loved everything and had a great time.
By the time we got home, it was almost 10:00, and we were tired. It is not very often that we get to get together, so it was a great time. Below is some random pictures of the cats and us.
The weather has really gotten colder, as you can see i have the winter blanket on the couch behind me, Ian picked it up for free on the side of the road, as someone was getting rid of it, it was brand new in the bag, never been opened. Our new couch was free too, we got it off of freecycle. Gotta love those free sites.. Anyway till next time. Take Care.
